Aurum
Traditionally racehorses have been purchased primarily on pedigree and as unbroken youngstock. Dressage competitors around the world, and more recently in Australia, have also purchased young horses based on their pedigree. Now Australian Show Jumpers have followed their European counterparts in this regard.
It seems that there are also more people in Australia recognising the benefits of the purpose bred eventing horse. However along with this many are now neglecting the need for the Thoroughbred blood that is necessary if one wishes to make time at the higher levels. Close investigation of the results of all the major events in Australia, in fact the world, shows that purpose bred eventers are winning virtually everything and in the rare case where an off-the-track horse does well it will always have good proven eventing blood somewhere in its pedigree.
Whilst there are a number of dressage based crossbred horses available we believe that these give no strong chance of making it at the higher levels of eventing. They certainly are flash as youngsters but may well lack the jumping and galloping ability and the courage and stamina required. These are attributes which have made the Australian bred horses so successful in previous Olympic Games.
Based on results from top level competition, we at Aurum are maintaining a high percentage of Thoroughbred blood in our breeding programme. With this we are also including some very carefully selected Warmbloods. The Thoroughbreds that we use tend to have better than average movement as is evidenced by our good results in the recent ACE assessment tour. They are also careful jumpers in addition to having the speed, stamina, temperament and courage required.
In Australia there are currently a small number of top level competitors who are breeding their own future stars. Some offer a sample of these for sale. Purchasing one of these horses sounds like a good idea, but you should consider these facts first. A top rider relies on having the best horse possible. Any horse that they consider a top prospect is likely to be the last one they sell! And if you’re looking for an Olympic prospect you better be prepared to talk serious money to these producers.
Aurum has been producing a concentration of Great Australian Thoroughbred bloodlines for over twenty years. Despite the fact that we may not have the highest profile, we have the best selection in the country of the blood of Brilliant Invader, Family Ties, Favoured Bay, Flooding and McCartney amongst others. These bloodlines win Olympic Medals!
Our eventing breeding programme also includes selected Warmblood lines such as Daley K whose descendants have represented Australia internationally in Show Jumping and feature regularly as the winners in the Young Jumping Horse classes. It’s also worth noting that our top Thoroughbred jumping lines share key ancestors with most of the top European Warmblood showjumpers! We have some very exciting youngsters out of selected thoroughbred mares by our own WB X TB stallions Aurum Rivière d’Or and Aurum Remarquable.
Purchasing a purpose bred horse from a breeder such as Aurum is by far the most sensible course of action for the serious competitor. Even for the less experienced or young rider aiming for the top, these horses have the trainability to help get you there. You can see the horse in the flesh and assess it personally. However if you are unfamiliar with assessing young horses, we can share with you the benefit of our many years experience in watching these babies mature. Aurum horses have proven breeding and have acquired no vices from breaking in, poor training or track work. They have been handled properly from birth so accept that people are a good part of life, unlike virtually all race bred horses. In short, you’re not buying someone else’s problems. Time and again we have customers sending us unsolicited emails and letters about how happy they are with their Aurum babies.
Aurum does not have a ‘stable rider’ who is aiming for the heights of top level eventing. Yet our aim is still to produce Olympic level eventers. These two facts combine to ensure that we are offering for sale the best possible eventing prospects that we can, at an age where you the competitor can bring them up in your own style and when they are at their most affordable. We cannot wait to see an Aurum horse making it to the Olympics. Will it be with you?

Danaos du Theillet is THE ONLY stallion standing in Australia to have successfully competed at World Cup and Grand Prix level in Europe. He is the best bred jumping stallion in Australia, the only one by World Champion, Quito de Baussy. Danaos carries two crosses of the greatest stallion of all time, Ibrahim, through his most successful son, Almé. Danaos was a star in Europe with many World Cup, Grand Prix and 145 cm speed class wins and placings. He was retired due to injury in 2004.
Since his arrival in Australia, Danaos has produced some stunning foals which are only now preparing to commence their competition careers. This is your opportunity to breed using live cover or chilled semen to a stallion of undoubted European quality. This season’s foals have exceeded all expectations.
Bendooley Park is moving to a purpose built stud at Penrose in the Southern Highlands and Danaos will be at his new home in May 2010.

Bimbadeen Park
Statford Novalis has it all - International breeding, stunning looks, proven talent and, above all, a magnificent temperament.
A prestigiously bred son of imported Irish Sport Horse, ARD BLACK CAT and out of NOBILITY, an elite stud book Hanoverian mare imported from Germany.
Thanks to a fabulous temperament, outstanding ability and trainable nature Statford Novalis has romped though the grades with success all the way. He is currently competing and winning at three star level eventing.
His disposition reflects the legendary Irish temperament combined with the movement and technique of the German Hanoverian line.
This exciting stallion is one of very few stallions that have had success at 3* level eventing, he was the winner of the Camden 3* 2008, the same year he won the prestigious Adelaide 2*. In 2009 Statford Novalis placed 3rd at the NSW State Championship at 3* level and placed 2nd at the Adelaide 2*. He has also had great results in pure showjumping in 2008 he beat a field of over 130 starters to win the C & D grade class at the National Showjumping Championships.
Novalis now has his oldest progeny out beginning their careers and they are off to a flying start. Statford Neo is just 5 years old and already a winner in competition, he is now competing 1* and in one of the rising stars on the eventing circuit. Statford Novalis passes on his outstanding temperament and athletic ability making them not only potential stars but lovely easy horses to work with.

Blackall Park Warmblood Stud
The stud was founded in the late eighties and based on a group of mares by the thoroughbred stallion Balmoral Boy. All of the Balmoral Boy horses had great size, jumping ability and movement, together with outstanding trainability, temperament and soundness.
In 1988 Denis Crane saw the beautiful grey Hanovarian stallion Daley K, and was immediately impressed. . Daley K was bred by Holger and Melanie Schmorl at Kinnordy Stud in Queensland. He is by Daktylus (imp) from the Goldstern mare Gold Song (imp). Daley K was purchased in 1989 and began his stud career that year.
Daley K has a superb temperament which he imparts to his progeny. He has exceptional jumping ability and movement, and has proved his ability to sire both top-level showjumpers, dressage horses, eventers, and show horses. Over the next twenty years, many such horses have been bred, and the stud has become nationally and internationally known.
Best known of our Showjumpers that reached A & B Grade level would include Warlord II, Emmaville Design, Emmaville Diplomat, Cool K, Wild Honey, Blackall Park Atlantis, Blackall Park Sox, Blackall Park Dante, Blackall Park Zambesi, Special K, Aquilla, Blue Crystal, Sister Act, Get Shorty, Denali Blue, Good night Kiss, and Blackall Park Silverton. Many other younger horses seem certain to join this list in the next few years. Daley K has also been well represented in eventing by War Wizard, Pluto Mio, Blackall Park D’Artagnan etc, and in dressage by Splash II and Blackall Park Fonteine.
In September 2008 Daley K received great attention for being sire of Warwind the winner of the prestigious Garryowen trophy at the Royal Melbourne Show. Warwind a highly successful show horse is the first Warmblood winner of this famous event.
Of particular interest to breeders are the ever-growing numbers of top quality horses being bred on from Daley K mares, or by Warlord II, or Emmaville Darius sons of Daley K. Horses such as Blackall Park Misty Blue, Blackall Park Rhapsody, AEA Orox, Caltango, LP Warsaw, Glenara Bollinger, Master Cognac, Penrose etc.
Future Plans:
Daley K is now 26 years old, and sadly we realise that his era is coming to an end. A group of his daughters have been retained at the stud and from them we have already produced high quality foals by Mr Blue and Renegade Z, Also in 2009 we were thrilled by the arrival of an outstanding colt by Warlord II, (Blackall Park Kokomo) and a spectacular filly foal by V’Tropez. (Blackall Park San Tropez) V’Tropez is an exciting newcomer to the Australian breeding scene. Students of breeding will note with interest that V’Tropez is by Galoubet from Nascency, (a Grand Prix jumper that was by Good Twist the sire of the legendary Gem Twist).
Also we are delighted to have three mares in foal to Valhalla III. This young stallion is not only impeccably bred for showjumping, but is now generally acknowledged as the most exciting young showjumper in Australia. Interestingly one of the mares that we have in foal to Valhalla III, Balmoral Lucy, carries the blood of Precipitation on three lines of her pedigree, and as Valhalla III also has a double cross to this great foundation sire, the expected foal will carry more Precipitation blood than would normally be thought possible. Time will allow us to judge the value of this “return to basics”
Appreciation:
Stud principals, Susan Benko and Denis Crane would like to take this opportunity to thank our many customers and supporters over the last twenty or so years, and congratulate them for their achievements with so many wonderful horses by Daley K.

Copabella Sporthorses
In operation since 1997, Copabella focuses on producing modern, athletic sporthorse types, combining top-class imported bloodlines as well as proven Australian Thoroughbred lines. The results speak for themselves, with Copabella progeny now competing successfully in all Olympic disciplines.
THE STALLIONS
Everyone knows the great Pinto warmblood, Copabella Visage, who returned to Europe in early 2009 to stand and compete on the international circuit with French National Champion Stephan Lafouge. Visage’s temperament and athletic ability are legendary and he passes on looks, trainability, size and bone. He also passes on his amazing gaits, including that great rocking horse canter. Visage has a strong following in Europe, and the Hargreaves have been persuaded to keep him over there for at least another season.
While Visage is away, Copabella Cadiz is stealing the limelight. By Chin Chin and out of an outstanding Quidam de Revel mare, the colt was imported in utero and is now rising five. The judges at the 2009 AWHA Colt Selections named him Premium Colt, and he followed that up with a convincing win in the 4-year-old Young Horse class at ISS Summer Classic. Cadiz is exceptional: spectacular, powerful jumping ability; wonderful temperament; excellent movement and arresting looks. Christopher Burton is training him at Redleaf Lodge and assures us he is going to become the best jumping horse in the country.
THE MARES
Holland Rose is Cadiz’s dam. Rose’s granddam is dam of exciting stallion Calvados. Rose herself has a licensed son as well as two successful fillies on the ground in France. She has so far produced two outstanding Visage boys, as well as a stunning Chequille Z filly and an equally stunning Lux Z filly for Copabella.
Courchevel is an imported Holstein mare by Cascavelle. She has two embryo-transfer foals on the ground, Vermont and Victoria, both by Visage, who have generated enquiries from as far afield as France and England. Currently campaigned by Brooke Campbell, Courchevel is working her way back up the ranks after a break due to injury.
Blue Crystal, full sister to Warlord II, was a successful A Grade showjumper before retiring to stud. She has so far produced outstanding Visage and Cadiz colts for Copabella, and carries another Visage pregnancy this season.
Toddingham, a widely travelled UK-bred Cleveland Bay-Thoroughbred cross, competed successfully in the States in all three Olympic disciplines. A great-moving mare, she also had a careful and very scopey jump, and she has produced a string of great foals for Copabella since retiring to stud on the Hargreaves’ return to Australia. Sadly, Toddingham passed away in 2009.
THE NEXT GENERATION: the first Visage filly, Vogue out of Santa Anna, is confirmed in foal to Cadiz this season. Vogue is a tall, athletic and leggy, and Christopher already has her marked down for an eventing career. Meanwhile she’ll produce the first Visage-Cadiz cross mating. And the plan is to continue the process each year with outstanding fillies including Vermont and Cashmir and Venice from the following year’s crop.

Davidson Equestrian
Our breeding program focuses on the use of frozen semen as well as fresh semen from our resident stallion Fairbanks Catargo, to produce international class competitors. Catargo was conceived using frozen semen from Indoctro and is out of one of our purpose bred broodmares, by Grannus II.
A competitor at the 2005 World Young Horse Showjumping Champs in Lanaken Belgium, Catargo performed with distinction. Catargo’s oldest offspring have just turned six and are competing in showjumping, dressage and eventing with success.
Other sires used by Davidson Equestrian are Aarko, Coromino, Quality, Cordini, Le Primeur, Indoctro and Inferno.
Our breeding and training programs work hand in hand, we not only breed top quality young horses but are also able to produce competition horses.
We believe a jumping horse should move well, be well conformed, trainable, and are noticing this with Catargo’s first youngsters who are currently competing.
Catargo is becoming very popular not only with showjumping breeders, but also dressage and eventing breeders as he is producing a very modern and elegant sporthorse. Many of the Fairbanks horses are successfully campaigned by Shane Davidson, who is sponsored by Coprice, Saddleworld, Virbac and Waterview Park
Catargo’s family tree includes some of the world’s legendary sires: Capitol, Caletto II, Cor de la Bryere, Calypso I, with this breeding he has ties to superstars such as Nike who reached the finals at the Athens Olympics as well as Nassau with Jeroem Dubbeldam.
Since 2008 Catargo has been competing at World Cup level and in Grand Prix events with success. We are also pleased to announce that Catargo and Shane have been included on 2010 Queensland Elite Showjumping Squad as well as Fairbanks Caspar on the Development Squad.
Fairbanks Cargo has been successfully competing in ODEs and showjumping with wins up to Pre Novice also being the Queensland Pre novice State champion for 2009. Fairbanks Caspar, another gelding by Catargo, has also competed with success this year with wins and placings up to 1.3 level as well as running second in the Future Stars at Toowoomba Royal. They are both from Catargo’s first season at stud.

DvZ Stud Horses
DvZ Stud horses might not be a household name in the Eastern States, but the WA based stud belongs to the top in their home state. Whether it be dressage, jumping or eventing, there is a DvZ Stud horse taking part. Most are sold as youngsters and carefully educated by their happy owners. Rarely is a DvZ Stud horse sold on to third parties as the riders are so happy with ‘their’ DvZ horse!
The reason for this success is two fold: one you need good mares and two you need to be able to pick the right stallion for a particular mare. For owner Dolly van Zaane it is a lifetime mission to breed quality performance horses. Many hours of research, dissecting pedigrees, picking apart stallions and mares to produce that foal with all the characteristics for the top sport later in its life.
The brood mares are mainly of Holsteiner lines, bred from imported stallions. Some mares are second and third generation of Dolly’s breeding principles and combined with either fresh, chilled or frozen semen stallions produce some very interesting horses.
Stallions used have been French, like Hold Up Premier, KWPN like Indoctro, Krack C, Flemmingh, Val D’Isere, Laroche VDL and AEA Tuschinski [these Dutch stallions carry a lot of Holsteiner], part French/Dutch with Quasimodo Z, Holsteiners as Carpino Z, Oldenburg with Soprano. etc.
The combination of Holsteiner x Dutch x French is a powerful one genetically as they combine extremely well. They produce athletic horses with great action from behind and expressive front legs suitable for dressage as well as jumping. That this mix works can be seen by some of the successes the DvZ Stud horses enjoyed. Apart from being athletic it is the trainable temperament that gives them the edge as well.
One mare in particular has been instrumental by producing multiple champions: DvZ Fuerstin Finesse is a Holsteiner mare by Barrabadeen Fortune and out of a Falkland x Monopol mare. Finesse is 2nd generation of DvZ Stud breeding as it started with the purchase of her grand mother the Monopol mare Monate.
Finesse’s first born is the current TEKNA winner DvZ Fabergé (by Rebel I Z), the super jumping mare owned and ridden by Anna McGregor. Finesse produced with VDL Laroche, the multi state champion dressage mare DvZ Faroche (ridden by Susan Page) and with the Sandro Hit son, Soprano her latest champion is DvZ Fruehling (Terrina Fairbrother).
DvZ Stud over the years also bred three stallions: DvZ Fuerst Figaro, now a B-Grade jumper with Cindy Morrison; DvZ Infini (Indoctro) jumping and dressage with Glen McLaren and DvZ Goodwill (Goodtimes KWPN) who recently moved to Tasmania. The stud used all 3 stallions before they went permanently into the sport, and retained fillies for future breeding.
Another successful influence has been Dutchman, who crossed with the NZ Thoroughbred mare by Maitre de Danse x Jungle Boy, produced a ‘hotter’ eventing line. DvZ Desiree and DvZ Debonaire are the result of this cross. Debonaire is now a successful eventer who in his first year was only unplaced once.
Desiree has only been used as a broodmare and two of her daughters by DvZ Figaro are in NSW for a dressage career, while DvZ Destiny (by DvZ Infini) has embarked on a showjumping and eventing career this year.
Other mares carry lines by Jadalco, Grand Espoir, another Barrabadeen Fortune and a Thoroughbred mare by Our Poetic Prince.
This season we expect five foals by a diverse range of stallions true to our breeding vision of breeding athletic youngsters suitable for all 3 disciplines.
We used Carpino Z over a young DvZ Infini mare who is by Indoctro and the resulting foal will be a double cross to the super sire Capitol I.
DvZ Finesse produced such a super colt with AEA Tuschinski (carries Krack C x Gribaldi) that we repeated it again. Finesse’s daughter DvZ Faroche is in foal to Soprano (Sandro Hit). DvZ Tenacity, by Grand Espoir is in foal to Capone and the Our Poetic Prince mare is in foal with Grisham who is by the sensational Trakhener stallion Gribaldi, the sire of super dressage star Moorlands Totilas.
We breed to sell to you. Your visit is always welcomed as are your expression of interest in any of the youngsters on the ground or the ones yet to be born.
At DvZ Stud the horses are reared in a herd environment in large paddocks of up to 50-60 acres, with a dam, large shady trees where they can live like horses. No rounding up with motor bikes, or even quad bikes. We try and keep things peaceful and calm to create a positive environment for the youngsters so they learn to trust us humans and that learning new things is safe and fun.
Breeding horses is for me the most satisfying lifestyle and there is no greater reward than after so many years that DvZ Stud horses are out there and ‘doing it’ and that their riders and owners tell me how happy they are with their DvZ horse. This year there are a dozen DvZ horses in the three disciplines competing in several states. Isn’t it time that you come and check them out?

Equivision Sporthorses
Equivision Sporthorses started by Roz and Claudia Graham, is a very selective breeding program with the aim to produce world champion eventers. With the extremely high standard of today’s Eventing riders these horses must be competitive at Grand Prix dressage or World Cup show jumping whilst being bold and athletic to gallop across country.
Our “3 T” motto of –Temperament –Type –Trainability is what we consider the essential ingredients.
All the Equivision horses are broken in, trained and competed by Claudia, who has been on the NSW elite squad for 10 years. Claudia is an Australian Representative including Travelling Reserve for Athens Olympics with Diamond B Vogue, and National A Squad member prior to Beijing Olympics with Blazing Chief. Currently Claudia has Park Street Vision having had many wins up to 2 star level with the aim of London Olympics 2012.
The bloodlines of these 3 top level competitors are the basis of our breeding. They don’t come any better than Diamond B Vogue, the mare herself. Embryo Transfer has enabled us to breed more than one foal from her each season. Blazing Chief is by Wonder Dancer, going back to the influential Danehill. We are breeding from his full sister who has the same amazing athleticism. Park Street Vision is by Nothin’ Leica Dane, we are breeding from a beautiful mare of the same sire with identical type, movement and temperament.
We carefully choose stallions to compliment our mares, some of these are Vivant (Feugo Du Prelet), Conquistador (Clinton), Raise a Stanza (TB), Northern Simba (Falkland/Contact), Wirragulla Hamlet (Konigsberg), Alessandro (Sandro Hit), Grafenstolz (Polarion/Camelot), Contenda (Contendro), Copabella Cadiz (Chin Chin), Majestic Supreme (TB), Highland Charmed (TB), Jubilee Bay (TB), Croftlea Artizan ( Aberlou, NZ highly successful eventing sire).
Our theories are proving successful with young stock now performing in the competition arena. They are perfect examples of what we are striving to produce, being talented and trainable making them a pleasure to own and compete. We are proud of the success of the filly Versace Vision (Vivant/Diamond B Vogue). Purchased by Sidney Roberts at a 3 year old soon after being broken in, Vision was 2nd to the stallion Copabella Cadiz at Sydney 4 yr old young jumping horse championships.

Feldale Stud
Stud Principal, Felicity Cribb has successfully competed internationally with her home bred Thoroughbred cross Carmody St. Together they were based in UK for 5 yrs after being short-listed for the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992. They placed 2nd at their very first 3DE in England at Blenheim CCI*** and went on to compete at Badminton CCI**** to finish 21st in 1993, and 10th in 1994. This same year they were an Australian Representative at the World Equestrian Games for Eventing at The Hague in The Netherlands.
Felicity`s late mother Jennifer Cribb (nee Young), was the daughter of Charles Young who established the Barolin Pony Stud. Jennifer had a passion for showjumping and eventing and with three daughters desperately wanting to ride, established a Connemara Pony Stud. As her daughters grew taller, she re-directed her breeding program towards the performance horse. She had great success producing some very competitive dressage and eventing horses at FEI level – one of which was Carmody St.
So it appears that the passion for breeding quality performance horses for the competitive rider has been passed on to Felicity! The breeding program began with a focus on developing a quality broodmare herd. She selected mares on performance, conformation, temperament and proven Thoroughbred jumping bloodlines. Some of these included Dusky Hunter, Souvenir, Tristram from the Sir Ivor line, Double Cream, and the famous New Zealand thoroughbreds Aberlou and Shamal. She then used some great jumping/dressage Warmblood sires to cross over them. These included:
Staccato – the World No. 1 eventing stallion in 2004, whose sire is Salute (imp.) producer of numerous FEI dressage horses including Stirling Stilton who represented Australia at the World Games, 2002. Staccato`s dam is by King of Babylon, a Thoroughbred who has sired Olympic Games showjumping representatives;
Belcam Agassi by Argentinus - the World No. 1 jumping sire and sire of top international dressage horses. Agassi himself has also proven to be a very successful sire of jumping horses; and Copabella Visage who is, of course, an outstandingly competitive jumping horse in Australia placing and winning in World Cup Showjumping Qualifiers.
Feldale Stud is proudly presenting Regardless now competing overseas, representing Europe`s finest dressage bloodlines. Regardless is an elegant athetic type of modern Warmblood which will cross perfectly over purpose bred mares to produce the most exciting youngsters we have ever seen. Regardless is by Regardez Moi (imp.) who is by Rubinstein. Interestingly, Regardless has a double cross of the world famous bloodlines that produced Rubinstein, which is also proving itself in the international jumping arena!
Regardless will only stand to a limited number of mares this season.
Feldale Stud has mares and youngstock available for sale with bloodlines also including – Grannus II, Contango II, Contender, Bolero, and Aachen.

International Horse Breeders
IHB were delighted to hear that Escudo 1 was named Hanoverian of the Year 2009! Escudo 1 has been one of the German State Stud’s top jumping sires for many years with a breeding index score for jumping of (150). Not only does he improve in jumping talent, but he is an overall big improver in riding type (143), and conformation (128). This ‘E’ bloodline is renowned for producing progeny for both disciplines. Escudo 1, his sire Espri, and many licensed Escudo 1 sons are available through Celle by frozen AI. IHB happily has a Barrabadeen Talent mare in foal to Escudo 1 this season.
As a preface to the Top List in Dressage, Jumping and Type in the 2010 Hanoverian Yearbook it is written, “There are two groups of stallions which are particularly important in a breeding program: 1. Young stallions with above average results in the stallion performance test. They represent progress in the breed and breeders place their hopes in them.” and “2. Older stallions with positively assessed offspring. In particular the estimation assessment of daughters in the mare performance test and in the studbook inspection early provides us with indications of the heredity of the sires.” IHB consistently introduces fine examples of both groups of stallions with an ever increasing choice of bloodlines each season through frozen AI. A stallion enticing to every breeder and perfect for every mare!
For the 2010 season International Horse Breeders offers Celle’s new stallion line up: Asti’s Amsterdam (As di Villagana x Calypso 11), Bonaventura (Balou du Rouet x Grannus), Codex One (Contendro 1 x Gluckspilz), Cosinhus (Cornet Obolensky x Gambler’s Cup xx), Grandturo (Graf Top x Stakkato), Lacan (Lando x Raphael), Lord Lohengrin (Lordanos x Diskus), Quadam (Quite Easy 1 x Stakkato) Stanley (Stakkato x Landadel), and Victorio (Uccello x Graf Top).
Two older sires have been introduced also, namely Goldfever (Grosso Z x Galvano) and Quite Easy 1 (Quidam de Revel x Landgraf 1). Goldfever needs no introduction following his successful international sport career under Ludger Beerbaum winning more than 2.3 million Euro in his lifetime! He has had only a short breeding career so far but has various state premium mares, as well as Gotha who is an international jumper, and the licensed stallion Goldwing. With Quite Easy, Celle has introduced some valuable Swedish/French bloodlines and he is the sire of Quadam. Of recent years a valuable Dutch bloodline has also been introduced through Now or Never M, who has founded his own stallion line. He has for three years ranked among the top five on the German Breed Value Estimation and his son Uccello always delights with his unlimited potential and typey progeny. Uccello’s first licensed son Victorio, convincingly won the show jumping division at his stallion performance test, displaying incredible scope, the perfect attitude to work and super jumping style. Valentino, another son of Now or Never M in particular has made an impression with his jumping talent; a first class bascule and endless potential. His last crop of babies on the ground displayed impressive type and sport capabilities - two of his first crop have been already been accepted for breeding and one out of a Stakkato mare sold for Euro 100,000.
A new Dvd will be available featuring the German State Stud Stallions in Celle for 2010 which is the first of its kind and long awaited for!
IHB also represents Paul Schockemoehle International (PSI) who has introduced some interesting new stallions for 2010. Castino (Cassini 11 x Caretino), Contendros (Contendro 1 x Drosselklang 11), Last Mans Hope (Last Man Standing x Conteros), Quintador (Quinta Real x Landor S), Sheikh It (Stolzenberg x Escudo 1) and Toulouse (Toulon x Padarco).
Balou du Rouet continues to produce some exceptional progeny both here in Australia and overseas and his children exhibit both good movement and high jumping ability. His FN breeding index score of 141 puts him among the leading breeding stallions despite his young age. Cornets Stern made his Australian debut in 2009 and his foals will be eagerly awaited and Chacco Blue has already made his name as a sire who can pass on his scope, grit and ambition plus his uncompromising positive attitude and ability. The most popular Diarado has proven that he can produce elegant, streamlined, and elastic movers with an impressive hind leg action.
For those who want to breed from one of three absolute jumping legends, who are also proven breeders, PSI offers Sandro Boy, For Pleasure and Dobels Cento.
The stable of Zuchthof Klatte has been involved in breeding renowned jumping stallions for 5 decades. The most influential sire Argentinus is still available through frozen semen, as well as through his outstanding son Armitage. The legendary Grannus continues on through his son Gracieux. From this stable IHB also commends Contendro 1 who has had an exceptional competition career and stands out as an outstanding sire with a breeding index of (171) for jumping based on daughters and mares. Kirby Park Stud
All over the world it has been proven that the top competitors make the best breeders – and we have certainly proven that over and over again at Kirby Park. With a small family based breeding program, we have produced a series of international eventing stars, including Kirby Park Irish Jester, ranked 1st in the FEI WBFSH rankings for 2008… and the way he has started this season, he might just be number one at the end of 2010!
Our stud was established in 1992 by Margaret and Megan Jones to breed sporthorses, especially for eventing. The aim was to breed sound athletic horses with good temperament, suitable for riders at all levels… and that is just what we have done. We are proud of breeding international standard four star horses, but we are just as proud of the horses we have bred that are giving amateur riders a lovely time at the lower levels.
We are proud to be standing Kirby Park Irish Friday for the 2010 breeding season. He is by Kirby Park Irish Jordan (a brother to Irish Jester) out of Riverside Ebony (a full sister to Riverside Othello) which gives him a double cross of the great Souvenir – with four star eventing blood, top and bottom.
We are also proud to offer our exceptional Thoroughbred stallion, According to Megan, serious eventing breeders should be rushing to Nantamboo. “He is producing the most stunning progeny - they all move with amazing soft elastic paces and they have a awesome elastic jump. Remember Kirby Park Joy? She was nearly unbeatable in 2 star then I sold her and she is now well on her way to being selected for the World Championships this year for Para Dressage with her new rider Grace Bowman. This also shows his great temperament Nantamboo passes on. They are great in the mouth and naturally tuned to your seat making them very easy to train and ride.”
“I have a couple of young ones that I haven’t sold, sired by Nantamboo, and they are amazing elastic horses. Watch out for Kirby Park Irish Empress, she is a future star. Empress is out of Kirby Park Irish Imperial (a full sister to Kirby Pak Irish Hallmark) and sired by Nantamboo.”
“We nearly always have a great range of horses for sale, from babies to ready made competitors,” says Megan.

Matavia Performance Horses
Breeding jumping horses requires the use of successful jumping bloodlines. Matavia Performance Horses has been breeding a jumping horse once a year for the last few years. The use of the German Hanoverian sire, Champion FP, has resulted in two top young colts. Champion FP is by Champion Du Lys, from a mare by For Pleasure. Jumping breeding doesn’t get much better. Olympic gold medallists, Bundeschampionate qualifiers and multi million Euro winning showjumpers are all in his immediate pedigree. Champion FP was awarded the top score of 10.0 a total of seven times at his 30 day stallion performance test! After winning numerous jumping classes, he won the final qualification of the German Young Horse Championships in Warendorf as a five year old with a score of 9.0. The following year he once again qualified for Warendorf.
The dam of both colts is the Thoroughbred mare Matavia Paparazzo xx. She was chosen as a performance horse dam for her large frame and exceptional movement. The infusion of Thoroughbred blood gives the athleticism for these colts to be successful in Eventing competition as well as Showjumping like their sire. In 2009 Matavia Performance Horses purchased another mare to help develop jumping breeding in Australia. The Daktylus mare Remi Dreamtime is sure to make an impact when bred to 2009 stallion of the year, Escudo I next season.
Matavia Performance Horses have searched further afield for the long term benefit of Hanoverian Jumper breeding in Australia. In 2009, the filly foal Sentilessa by Stakkato and from St.Pr.St. Gentilessa (Grafenstein/Pik Junge/Diskus) was purchased in Germany. The mare Gentilessa carried the prestigious FRH prefix - The Association for the Promotion of Hanoverian horses in Equestrian Sport. She scored 9s for jumping in her performance test as well as 8s for rideablity and 8s for trot and canter. We felt that a typey, rideable, high performance jumping pedigree was just what Australia needed.
Matavia Performance Horses, catering for riders’ performance needs now and in the future.

Nukku Park
The beginning. The journey. The destination.
We are a young stud with a small band of quality mares chosen for their proven performance pedigrees. We breed 2 or 3 foals each year. Our mare lines include Contango 11, Silveneer, Souvenir, Dutchman, Falkland, Agassi, Argentinus and Grannus 11 and yes the mares have been free jumped and can REALLY jump. They are registered in the highest possible mare classification with the ACE Group and the Oldenburg Verband Germany. Temperament, conformation and swing are a must to ensure rideability.
We have used Aspen, Contango 11, Vivant and Conquistador to date, resulting in some special youngsters that have been purchased by outstanding riders. We will continue to use Australia’s best stallions in conjunction with frozen semen from selected European stallions.
Our eldest progeny are now competing in D grade and here starts the journey. Their riders acknowledge their respective mount’s ability and scope. Destination – producing sound, quality and talented horses that perform at the highest level.

NZPH
The New Zealand Performance Horses (NZPH) team of horses have been proving themselves world wide over the last 12 months.
Muskateer NZPH (Cabdulla du Tillard/ Indian Summer) represented New Zealand at the FEI World Cup final in Las Vegas in April last year with rider Anna Trent, the atmosphere of the indoor arena was electric and Anna and Muskateer NZPH performed creditably.
A few weeks later the pair won the Sacramento Grand Prix which is part of the Triple Crown series; they followed up with minor placing in the other two classes.
At the inter- continental championships at Spruce Meadows Canada Muskateer NZPH picked up a couple of minor placings in 1.50m classes and went onto finish 12th in the 1.60m derby at the Spruce Meadows Masters
Muskateer NZPH is back in work in California and awaits Anna’s return in mid April to begin their campaign for selection for WEG in September.
On the domestic scene NZPH has been well represented in the age group series classes for 5, 6 and 7 year olds with Quick Step NZPH (By Rox da la Touche) currently leading the 6 year old series and Pick Me NZPH (by Rox da la Touche) a close second in the 7 year old series, the final of these series finish at the Breeders Championships in Taupo at Easter.
The Kelt Capital Horse of the Year show is the highlight of the domestic season and this years show proved no different, Levitation NZPH (by Cacao Courcelle) took out the $50,000 Silver Fern Stakes with Billy Raymont on board, Billy who has several NZPH horses in his team in Queensland, got a last minute call up to ride Anna Trent’s team of horses after she broke her ankle in late February.
Levitation NZPH then backed up with a great 4th placing in the $200,000 Olympic Cup Horse of the Year title class.
New comers to the Grand Prix ranks this season have been Nicalette NZPH (by Cabdulla du Tillard), she placed second in her first world cup start and the backed up a fortnight later winning the World Cup qualifier at the Taupo Xmas Cracker, This talented mare has since gone on to produce a string of placings including second in the prestigious Norwood Gold Cup at the Kelt Capital Horse of the Year.
NZPH has recently launched their new website, which explains in-depth the principles of their breeding program and the philosophies that make their business successful.

Oaks Sporthorses
From breeding to competition is a long term business. Our vision at the Oaks Sport Horses is to produce jumping horses of the highest calibre, establish their behaviour and develop their jumping skills at a rate consistent with their growth in preparation for competition. Igniting the public enthusiasm for showjumping through quality competition at all levels is another of our aims.
At Oaks Sport Horses we began with the best jumping performance bred mares we could find. We produce a modern type of Warmblood, our mares are elegant, beautiful horses as well as having elite pedigrees. Many are current competitors, such as Altes (Darco/Voltaire), Vedette (Cassini I/BrownBoy), Miss Scarlet (Verdi/Papillon Rouge) and ProRatina. Many are successful past performers like Indra (Calando I), Legende (Landadel) and Indira (Heartbreaker/Burgraaf).
Sires are the other side of the equation. Our first mares were chosen to complement the Jalisco B, Clinton, Heartbreaker bloodlines of Vivant and Conquistador, a very successful cross for us with our embryo transfer competition mares where chilled semen is more viable. We also use many imported semen stallions and have, or are expecting, foals by Tinkas Boy, Converter, Quintender, Chacco Blue and Diarado to name a few. We also have a 2 year old colt who we are watching with interest – Concord Ego Z (Calvaro Z/Carthago).
Breeding is only half the story. Starting young horses in the best possible way for a jumping career – nutrition, exercise, appropriate handling at every stage of development, all help establish the mental and physical attributes required of jumping athletes.
Young horse classes such as the Oaks Medallion series and the ESP Young Horse classes are becoming an important stage in showcasing the development of these youngsters.
Competition is of course where we walk the talk. Our mares are competing at the top of their various levels – from young horses beginning their 1.10m classes, through to Grand Prix and World Cup. Importantly from our point of view is that not only are they winning and placing, they are rideable, well educated horses.
We set the standard in breeding and producing a modern Warmblood for the Australian rider Young horses and breeding mares are available.

Sandhills
At Sandhills, our breeding plan revolves around breeding future eventing stars. Our philosophy for breeding eventers, centres around a horse that will remain sound, gallop and jump, be easily schooled and a temperament that stays reliable under pressure.
This mix is seriously difficult to achieve – too much straight dressage blood and you lose the jump; too much straight jumping blood and you lose the gallop; too much Thoroughbred and the temperament can be hot. Here at Sandhills with over 20 years of breeding and riding eventers, we have continued to use a mix of Warmblood and Thoroughbred bloodlines which are performance based.
Our three year old colts have no less than four generations of Olympic representation. These performance based genetics gives the rider the best chances of buying a horse that will do the job for them.
A horse that will stay sound, gallop, jump and be stunning in the dressage is an eventer’s dream. With proven performers like Panamera (Staccato) and Sandhills Brillaire (Staccato), we believe at Sandhills we are now achieving that dream.

Tulara Warmbloods
Tulara Warmbloods is owned by Anna and Mark Fraser and nestled in the hills near Mansfield in the Victorian High Country and next to the Mount Samaria State Forest. We specialise in frozen semen breeding from what we believe are the best bloodlines available today. We have an extensive program with 20 mares in foal this year all to frozen.
We currently have horses for sale by Balou du Rouet. Cornet Obolensky/Stakkato, Chicos Boy, Cassini 11, Cristallo. We also have an extensive Dressage breeding program with mares in foal to Furst Romancier, Furstenball/Sandro Hit, Ampere/Florestan, Bellissimo/Furst Heinrich.
Our first showjumping mare we bred is by Stakkato. We have a yearling out of her for sale by Cornet Obolensky. Fillies we have kept of hers are by Chicos Boy and Diarado (both Holstein licensing champions).
We have Tulara Balouch for sale. He is by Balou du Rouet/Carbine/Contango11. Born in December 2005 he is being trained and ridden by Jamie Winning and doing really well. He has an excellent jump. He is very quiet and would suit a young rider wanting a horse to grow with. We have a 2 and a half year old Quinar/Contango 11 gelding for sale. He shows outstanding prospects for jumping combined with really excellent movement. He is quiet and well handled and ready to be started. His mother’s last foal is by Cornet Obolensky and is an outstanding type with a canter for a 9. At this stage he is being retained by the stud.
Yearlings for Sale at Tulara are by Cornet Obolensky/Stakkato and Cornet Obolensky/Carbine/Contango11 (half brother to Tulara Balouch above), and Chicos Boy. Chicos Boy has had many premium stallions in the jumper ring. They normally show wonderful movement as does this one.
Foals for sale at Tulara are colts, one by Cassini 11, one of the Holstein Verband’s most popular breeding stallions, and one by Cristallo, one of Cornet Obolensky’s best breeding sons. These are both outstanding types. The one by Cristallo will be about 16hh and has wonderful movement. He would suit a smaller rider. The fillies we are keeping are two by Cornet Obolensky, one by Cassini 11, three by Diarado, and one by Chicos Boy. We also have 2 yearling fillies by Cornet Obolensky.
For Next Year 2011
We have twenty Tulara mares in foal this year. Four are to Cassini 11, eight to Colman, one to Cornet Obolensky, one to Diarado, one to Coronas, one to Bellissimo, two to Fürst Romancier, one to Ampère and one to Fürstenball. Colman is an outstanding jumping sire standing at one of the largest private stations in Holstein. He has had approximately twenty licensed sons in Holstein, many premium. He is probably the best breeding son of the great stallion Carthago out of a Lord/Marlon xx mare. He passes on his outstanding type, movement and powerful jumping ability. Several of our young mares in foal to Colman are by Chicos Boy, his father, Carpaccio, both Holstein licensing champions and Quinar, one of the Holstein Verband greats by Quidam de Revel. Our wonderful Cassini 11 mare is in foal to Coronas, who is a bay stallion by Cornet Obolensky. Coronas was crowned champion stallion overall at the Westphalian licensing in 2008. Our Stakkato mare is in foal to Cassini 11 combining the best of Hannover with the very best of Holstein. Inspections are welcome by appointment.

Tweedie & Associates Veterinary Services
A new player and a new philosophy – Tweedie & Associates, made up of Mike and Lara Tweedie, both well-known veterinarians on the performance horse scene. have joined with France’s leading semen marketer - GFE.
While Mike and Lara have not been involved in reproduction services in their current practice, both have first rate backgrounds in the area. Lara worked with Angus McKinnon in Shepparton, while Mike worked with the legendary ‘Twink’ Allen at Cambridge. It is their intention to work with approved veterinary centres so that mare owners using frozen semen can have all the guarantees and benefits usually only available with live cover.
According to Lara: “I think the best outcome from my negotiations with GFE has been the favourable terms we will be able to offer breeders. If breeders choose to use an approved veterinary centre, they will be entitled to a live foal guarantee with a free return to the same stallion, if available, or a credit of 80% of the value of the original service fee towards the service of another GFE stallion. Until now, this has been unheard of for foals born from frozen semen, and this is evidence of GFE’s intention to build a long-term relationship with performance horse breeders in this country.”
“If breeders use an approved veterinary centre, they will be able to purchase three inseminations for one pregnancy. If the mare or recipient mare is not in foal at 45 days, a further three inseminations will be made available for just the cost of the transport of the extra doses to their veterinarian. These excellent terms make GFE stallions the obvious choice for valuable competition mares selected for use in an embryo transfer program.”
But it is not just the breeding terms that are a break-through, it is the decision to concentrate on just a few stallions, picking the best of the best. According to Mike: “We’ve got six of France’s top breeding stallions. We aim to know each horse inside out – and know exactly which bloodlines and types are going to ‘click’ with each stallion. We don’t own or stand any stallions of our own, and we are able to offer really objective expert advice to our mare owners. At the moment our stable is limited to six, but we have room for another six, and we are negotiating right now to add those stallions in the near future.”
The stallions include: Kannan, Orlando, Jazz Band Courcelle, Pezetas du Rouet, Quool du Bois Margot, and Consul DL Vie Z. Semen prices, including GST range from $1,500 to $2,650.

Twins Performance Horses
TPH was created from the dream of 5 year old twin girls who wanted to be on their horses all day, every day. Those two twins girls are Danielle and Greer Butcher who are well known Young Riders, competing with much success from Juniors, internationally as Young Riders, and in World Cup competition.
A suitable property needed to be found to fulfill their ambitions, and this resulted in the purchase of 50 acres in the Highlands South of Sydney. The property is only a short drive to the M5 motorway, and is set on a private, beautiful location.
Danielle and Greer where then able to purchase suitable performance mares, retired performance mares, and some quality brood mares to start their breeding program.
The aim at TPH is to breed from proven bloodlines, utilizing the wonderful imported show jumping stallions we have in Australia, as well as frozen semen and embryo transfer of imported and performance mares. This has resulted in our ability to breed foals with fully imported pedigrees, from sires and dams who have themselves competed. When breeding, the performance of the sire and dams are very important and particular attention is paid to this, along with a careful study of the bloodlines of each parent.
This philosophy has meant that Danielle and Greer are able to produce a small number purpose bred foals each year. Each foal is given individual attention and this goes onto to our young stock, now under saddle.

Waterview Park
Waterview Park is this season offering semen from some of the World’s truly great jumping stallions… like: Arko III: In the competition arena, Arko was a star. In fact, he headed up the official FEI World Stallion Jumping rankings for three years in a row. Ridden by Nick Skelton, Arko won almost a million pounds, taking out such prestigious Grand Prix at Rome, Lucerne, Calgary and Estoril. Arko is brilliantly bred being by the great Argentinus, on his dam’s side he breeds to the great jumping sire, Zeus.
Another top jumping stallion offered this season is Lordanos. This is breeding at its best, by the great son of Ladykiller xx, Lord, out of a mare by the Almé son, Ahorn Z, out of a mare by the Cor de la Bryère son, Calypso I. Recently Lordanos showed his amazing scope, when being competed by Janne Sosath, he cleared two metres in the Puissance at Rastede. Lordanos is already the sire of 20 licensed sons and numerous top jumping competitors.
Or perhaps you’d like to try one of the younger stallions, Check In, not that it is a gamble when you look at his breeding. Check In was bred by Gilbert Böckmann of the famous Hengststation Böckmann. He is by Cordalmé, who combines Cor de la Bryère and Almé, out of a mare by the Landgraf grandson, Lord Pezi out of a mare by the Inschallah son Ile de Bourbon, out of a mare by Lord Liberty (by Lord). Check In received the highest score for jumping at his 30 day test, and qualified for the Bundeschampionate with a score of 9.2.
Whatever your mare’s breeding and talent, you’ll find a stallion to match from the ‘stable’ of over 20 jumpers at Waterview Park.

Yalambi
Yalambi Farm Stud is very privileged to introduce its new stallion Carpino Z. He joins Val D’Isere VDL as the second approved European stallion standing at stud. Carpino Z (Carinjo x Capitol I x Cardinal) is approved with Studbook Zangersheide, and Val D’Isere VDL (Atlantic x Nimmerdor x Purioso) is approved with KWPN. These two stallions come from very different breeding lines and are of very different types. They do, however, both have the rideable temperaments as well as very impressive jumping abilities that Yalambi is becoming known for, and they both stand over 16.2hh.
Given the choice of these two stallions Yalambi is able to offer breeders a good match with any type of mare. Carpino Z brings Holstein: an amazing uphill canter, scope, with incredible technique, and Val D’Isere VDL brings the Dutch influence: a shorter coupled, elegant horse, with very good movement and jumping power. Both stallions are available for the 2010/2011 breeding season with fresh chilled semen and we give a live foal guarantee.
Carpino Z is the result of one of Holstein’s favourite stallion crosses - Cor de la Bryère and Capitol I, with the added bonus of the mighty stallions: Landgraf I and Ramiro Z thrown in as well. Carpino Z is approved by stud farm Zangersheide, who approve their stallions for the purpose of Grand Prix jumping competition. At his 2009 A.C.E. assessment he received 84% for both his conformation and movement; 88% for his rideability and 93.3% for his jumping ability.
This year saw his first crop of foals in which he has produced two stallion prospect colts who both scored over 80% for conformation and 8.5 for their canters. Yalambi’s Fanfare (Carpino Z x Hold Up Premier) was rated as the number 1 jumping bred foal over this year’s ACE assessment. His foals are long lined, powerful and attractive types, with excellent canters and temperaments.
Val D’Isere VDL has come from Holland’s VDL Stud. He is approved and licensed with the KWPN, and is by the stallion Atlantic (Acord II x Lord) who was Champion of the Bundeschampionat for 6 year olds, and has since jumped in several Nation Cups for Holland. At his stallion test Val D’Isere received an 8 for his take-off, technique and ability and an 8½ for his scope. He is now competing successfully here in Australia and has really impressed Australia’s national coaches. At his first major competition of the year Val D’Isere VDL jumped two impeccable rounds to win the Futurity Class at the inaugural Yalambi Easter Jumping Classic. Val D’Isere’s progeny consistently carry his stamp of elegance, with good canters and friendly confident temperaments.
At Yalambi we concentrate on quality rather than numbers, and so only have a small number of very high quality young horses for sale. We have always placed the most emphasis on the mother lines of our horses, as they are all European bred, and we combine them with our own European approved stallions, as well as frozen semen when suitable.
